Fall 2021 - ROSTRUM No. 1-2
It's been 15 years since the last time we saw a volume of CURCULIO. A lot of things have changed, a lot of weevil research has been published, new weevil workers have entered the community, and yet, we miss this outlet that allowed us to connect with each other and learn about the happenings of weevil research worldwide.
The editors, Jennifer GIRÓN and Lourdes CHAMORRO came up with the idea to bring back the newsletter during a visit by Girón to the National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C. The photograph on the left taken in Chamorro's office captures that visit (photo by M. Buffington).
We are introducing this new newsletter, which we have called ROSTRUM, to bring back that tradition. We are keeping most sections that allowed us to learn about new and past researchers, and about research activities. We encourage members of the community to share travel blogs, methods, and to let us know about new researchers. We also wish to archive and honor information associated with individuals in the community who have now passed away.
As we have so much to catch up with, we have several featured researchers, each with their own weevil story. We have also lost several dear weevil workers during this hiatus, so we have included a special section In memoriam to honor their memory and work. If you would like to contribute photographs and / or stories, please don't hesitate to contact us at WeevilWorkers@gmail.com.
